The Ambient Object is based on the ideas of vital materiality and media archaeology or nature and geologies ability to effect culture. Materiality and geology became a point of interest with the research into the rise of mobile-phones and digital mediums in the production and consumption of the art object at the Venice Biennale.
In the mobile-phone era, the ever-changing database of time and space, augments the ‘Aura’ invigorating the notion of collectability and value of the art object. In a post-anthropocene future, what if a meta-medium could augment time and space to a more advanced degree?
Using 3-D motion graphics, sound, and web-based Augmented Reality, this project presents a possible future scenario by exploring the hierarchies embedded within objects and vocabularies within technology, geology, and nature.
